2026 Request for Proposals: Together We Flourish

Together We Flourish is a multi-year participatory grantmaking effort at Prince Charitable Trusts. This work is guided by a nine-person community driven advisory group called The Flourish Collective (Collective). The Collective is an ensemble of artists, poets, musicians, sculptors, urban agriculturalists, naturalists, and gardeners committed to supporting organizations and efforts that advance wellness in Black and Latine communities primarily on the west and south sides of Chicago through the intersection of arts and nature. We also seek to support organizations or programs that are inclusive, immersive, prioritize accessibility, and are free or low-cost to participants.

A well community is one that is rooted in equitable opportunities to live in a healthy, balanced, and meaningful way and we seek applications from organizations whose work is aligned with at least one of the following two focus areas:

  • Mind, Body, and Soil
  • Creative Placemaking and Placekeeping

Mind, Body, and Soil

We seek to deepen connections to nature and the arts by planting seeds that feed the body and soil, and inspire growth, healing, and abundance in people. We believe in everyone’s right to wellness and to live spirited lives rooted in love, joy, and imagination.

Potential activities might include:

  • Yoga, tai chi, meditation, mindfulness practices, and group healing circles
  • Drumming, dance, movement-based practices, and other embodied creative experiences
  • Healing arts experiences in nature, including cyanotype, pottery, sound baths, sun printing, and nature-based artmaking
  • Frolicking, sensory exploration, and playful experiences that invite curiosity, wonder, connection, and joy
  • Community gardening, cooking classes, and community cookbooks
  • Seed banks, exchanges, and plant parties
  • Art- and nature-based mutual aid efforts that strengthen networks of care, encourage resource sharing, and support collective well-being

Creative Placemaking & Placekeeping

We seek to build upon and celebrate the existing assets, relationships, knowledge, and cultural wealth that make our communities strong. We believe communities have the right to claim, define, and activate their own spaces and treasures, honoring what was, documenting what is, and shaping what can be.

Potential activities might include:

  • Activation and restoration of community green spaces
  • Community art installations and public art projects rooted in nature
  • Land-based learning experiences, such as forage walks, preserving community history, and promoting community-led eco-tourism
  • Public performance and presentations for all ages
